Welcome to Derby International Business School video transcript

A video that introduces Derby International Business School, structured with a conversation of professional, engaged dialogue.

We begin with a shot of a sign on a modern building - it contains the University of Derby logo and 'The Cavendish Building.'

We see a wider shot of the building, a clean, modern architectural structure. The upper section of the building features light grey panelling with vertical, rectangular windows that reflect the sky. The lower and central sections of the building are rendered in a warm, burnt orange colour. To the far right, green foliage from trees are visible.

We next see a gentleman inside the building in front of reflective glass walls, identified as 'Theo Paphitis; University of Derby Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship.')

Theo: "It's very clear to me that Derby International Business School is here to stay and make an incredible impact not just on the community within Derby, but the business community internationally, but with this wonderful facilities that it's got as well, I think we're going to have people from all around the world visiting.

[We see more external shots of The Cavendish Building, including three students walking up stairs and into the main entrance, underneath gold lettering 'The Cavendish Building'. We see the wooden 'Spanish steps' seating benches inside the Atrium with a large University of Derby logo on the back panel.

Next, we see Professor Kathryn Mitchell, CBE DL; University of Derby Vice-Chancellor, who is stood in the Atrium.]

Kathryn: "What we really believe we've been able to deliver here is an amazing place where communities really pull together and make sure we're delivering innovation for the future, absolutely fantastic teaching and learning, and most importantly - a place where we are going to create the future for Derby."

[We see gold typeface 'With grateful thanks' dedication artwork on a white wall, an electronic marquee across the building which alternates between University of Derby logos and 'Welcome to The Cavendish Building' text. A group of students ascend a staircase, followed by a pan up the floor-to-ceiling height of the Atrium, revealing multiple floors, and crisscrossed, wood panel-framed staircases. We see names on doors for 'The Institute of Carbonomics' and 'The Garfield Weston Foundation Lecture Theatre'.

We next see Professor Keith McLay; University of Derby Deputy Vice-Chancellor, also stood in the Atrium.]

Keith: "It's co-located with industries, entrepreneurs and businesses to provide that connection for the students with the entrepreneurs of today and tomorrow so that they can learn from them. So that when they graduate from the University of Derby, they will not only have an excellent degree outcome, they will also be able to walk into a graduate job because they will have had that immersive experience with executives, with businesses, with industries, and entrepreneurs - right here in The Cavendish building."

[We pan around a classroom where an academic is presenting to a large class of attentive young students. Next, we see two female students descending the stairs into a busy Atrium. A networking event is taking place, as young students and entrepreneurs interact with senior businessmen and women.

Our fourth and final talking subject is Anshika Anshika; University of Derby Union of Students President, who stands along the balcony on an upper floor of the building.]

Anshika: "My learning highlights would be the Bloomberg training which I did. It was really amazing. And now in The Cavendish Building, we also have the facility of London Stock Exchange training as well."

[We see Theo Paphitis shaking hands with Chancellor Lord Burlington as he receives a University scroll, with people in the background applauding, including Kathryn and Keith. We see a large congregation of professionals sat in the Brian Ashby Lecture Theatre, in readiness for a presentation, which we then see features Theo and Keith, and later, Kathryn with three gentlemen.

We return to Theo to finish the video, and end on an inspiring low angle exterior shot of the building, contrasting against a bright sky.]

Theo: "I'm really looking forward and be inspired myself with enthusiasm and the energy of the students that are starting on their path - on their entrepreneur path - that I did all those years ago. But hopefully I can share some of my knowledge, my experience, my contacts - just to make that path just a little bit, a little bit slicker and easier."

[We end on the University of Derby logo]
