A message
from the Vice-Chancellor
to our applicants

As Vice-Chancellor of the University of Derby, I wanted to inform you about the measures we are taking in response to the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The health and wellbeing of our students, staff and visitors is our priority, so we have been taking action to reduce the number of people on campus. All of our teaching is now taking place online, and we have cancelled our Open Days, campus tours and face-to-face interviews.

With schools closing and exams no longer taking place, we are sure you will have lots of concerns about what happens next. We know how hard you have been working to get the results you need and understand that not being able to complete your studies is unsettling.

Our lecturers, wellbeing team and support staff are all here for you and are working on plans to ensure that your transition to university will be as smooth as possible in these unusual circumstances. Our policy has always been to assess the whole person; your academic potential is important but so too are your other strengths and skills – and these may come to the fore in the next few months.

If you have any specific questions about your course, your application or the University in general, we are happy to help. You can contact us using:

We will stay in touch and keep you up to date with our plans. In the meantime, stay safe and well, and we look forward to welcoming you soon.

Kind regards,

Kathryn
