How to apply through Clearing at Derby: Your three-step guide

Clearing is a great way to secure a course that fits you perfectly.

Whether you’ve changed your mind about what or where to study, applied later in the year, or your grades weren’t as expected, Clearing is a positive and flexible way to take your next step into the future you want.

We’ve broken it down step by step, so you’ll know exactly what to expect when Results Day opens on 14 August 2025.

If you’ve already applied through UCAS

Step one: Prepare for your call

Have your results ready as well as your GCSEs or equivalent Level 2 qualifications.

Don’t worry if you’re unsure about meeting the Clearing entry requirements. We’ll talk it through with you and help find a path that works.

Also check our our guide to nailing your Clearing phone call, from our Head of Admissions.

Step two: Call the Clearing hotline

Speak to one of our friendly Clearing advisors on 01332 592025. They’ll talk you through your course options, entry requirements and what we can offer you.

Calling is the fastest way to secure a place, but you can also message us on WhatsApp or fill out our Clearing enquiry form.

If we make you an offer, we’ll email you the details so make sure to give us an email address you check regularly.

Step three: Accept your offer

When you receive your offer via email, log into the UCAS hub and add your Clearing choice to accept your offer.

We will then confirm your place and send you everything you need so you can look forward to the start of term.
