World Book Day 2017 - March - University of Derby

World Book Day Celebrations 2017

Celebrate World Book Day with us!

To celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 2 March, our Libraries are holding events around the campuses:‌

Book sales to raise money for Book Aid International

• At Kedleston Road and Britannia Mill, we will be holding book sales in the Atriums on World Book Day.
• At Buxton and Leek, we will be holding a book sale in the Library and HUB from the 28 February - 3 March.

You can donate books for the sales at the reception desks in the Libraries and the HUB. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Book Aid International.

We’re also looking for volunteers to help run the book sale stand on 2 March, between 9am-5pm (KR). Please email Caroline Ball if you're interested.

Storytelling sessions with Helen Appleton

Helen will be making her annual trips to the Buxton and Leek Campuses to enthral us with her storytelling skills. This year’s theme is ‘Mad March tales’.

• At Buxton, there will be three storytelling sessions on Thursday 2 March, between 10am and 12noon.
• At Leek, there will be three storytelling sessions on Tuesday 28 February, between 1.15pm and 3.15pm.
You can book your place at the Library or HUB reception desk.

World Book Day is an ideal opportunity to get reading, so why not take up a new reading activity? At Derby we will be seeking interest in setting up a book group; you can sign up at the book sale points or email Sara Hawtin.

Why not join our Reading Ahead Challenge?

Challenge yourself to read six texts before the end of this academic year. Details are available at the Kedleston Road Library, Devonshire Library and Leek HUB desks.

Lastly, we're calling all book lovers!

We would like you to tell us your favourite book! We want to hear as many people's opinions about their favourite books and why, so we can find out Derby's top choices.
