LGBT History Month 2017
LGBT History Month is celebrated in February in the UK and the overall aim is to promote equality and diversity for the benefit of the public.
In 2017 the theme is Citizenship, PSHE and Law as we mark the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of male homosexuality in England and Wales.
From 2017 to 2019, 30 new PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) lessons will be devised and will be made available for free on the Classroom website. The lessons, supported and promoted by the Government Equalities Office (GEO) and the Department for Education (DfE), form part of a project to eradicate homophobic / biphobic and transphobic (HBT) bullying through education.
If you would like to find out more about LGBT in general we have a number of books in the library for you to check out. For more information on this year’s theme you could also try searching in LibraryPlus or Discover using keywords, “citizenship” AND “PSHE” for example.
