Induction and enrolment for International and Exchange Joint Honours - January 2018
We're really looking forward to welcoming you the UK as a new student on our Joint honours programme here at Derby.
You should first take a look at our general information for all international students joining one of our courses. You can find that here
Information for students joining us on Exchange for a semester studying at the Derby campus:
If you're coming to join us for a semester on the Exchange programme, the University will be running Welcome activities for new students from other countries from Monday 22 January, with a range of activities. Look out for these events when you arrive or have a look at the website http://www.derby.ac.uk/isc/here/enrolment . We would like you to come to these events, as they will prepare you properly for study in Derby and life in the UK, so please ensure you arrive in time.
Enrolment will take place on Monday 22nd January - here's a list of what you'll be doing for enrolment.
Step 1 - International Welcome and Induction 9-11am in Lecture Theatre OL1 at Kedleston Road site.
This includes an introduction to the International Student Centre (ISC), the Chaplaincy, the Students Union (UDSU), Barclays bank and the Park Medical Practice. There will also be some important document checks. The tours of Derby City will be available throughout the week.
Step 2 - Your Exchange Welcome Session 1.30pm in room N412 at Kedleston Road
During the Welcome Session, members of our Joint Honours and Exchange team will give you information about what studying at Derby will mean for you. You’ll get a chance to meet staff who are here to help you whilst you are studying at the University.
Step 3 - Module Selection in N412 at Kedleston Road
Straight after the Welcome Session you will be able to talk to Joint honours advisers about your module choices. They’ll help you fill out a Module Selection Form and sign it for you to take to Enrolment (see step 4). You may have already filled out a similar form at your home university, if so, then we will have a copy of this available at the session for reference. We will also provide you with your individual timetable. Staff from the Student Centre team, who look after the administration for the Exchange Programme, will be there to help you too.
Step 4 - Enrolment and Confirmation of Enrolment
When you have chosen your modules, you will be able to take your signed module selection form to Enrolment in the Library at Kedleston Road. Don’t worry, we will show you how to get there. At enrolment you will be given your user name and password so that you can log onto a computer. We want you to:
- Check and update your contact details (address, phone number etc)
- Enrol onto your modules using the module selection form you filled in with the Joint honours advisers.
- Have your enrolment confirmed and have a digital photo taken for your ID card
- Collect your ID card
There will be staff available in the Library to help you.
Step 5 - Teaching starts from Monday 29th January
We will issue you with a printed timetable for your modules and will explain how you can look up teaching times and classrooms on our student portal, UDo.
Remember to carry your ID card around with you at all times, you’ll need it to access some parts of the university, for taking out books from the library, and to Tap In to register your attendance in class.
