Halls events and activities programme
Welcome to our halls community. We can promise you that there is always something for you to get involved in whether it’s day trips, BBQs, welcome breakfasts or sports tournaments.
Last year we went on a variety of trips to places such as Alton Towers, Harry Potter World, and London and Manchester for shopping. We went to trampoline parks, paint balling, roller skating and to Laser Quest. We also held inter-hall competitions in football, netball and pool and we raised lots of money for charity by participating in a variety of national events. On top of all that, we taught students to cook and we even held a music festival! There really was something for everyone.
This year we are hoping to do even more exciting things and get even more students involved. We have plans for:
- a broad range of social activities
- skill based workshops
- an improved student experience across halls
- assistance to manage the transition between home and university.
There are events throughout the year to suit all tastes and interests. Here is a sample events programme to show you the sorts of events that go on:
There is a friendly team of social reps who will keep you updated with what’s coming up, and be on hand to listen to your ideas for future events. They are a fun and approachable bunch (in grey and yellow hoodies) so don’t be afraid to go and say hi!
Could you be a social rep?
Being a Social Rep in your halls is a pretty good gig! You will get paid to attend events such as paintballing, sports tournaments, host BBQ’s, festivals, roller-skating, days out to cities, Harry Potter World trips and many many more!
Your role will be to be the ‘go to’ person for your hall to organise social events and activities in your common room and to help spread the word about events going on throughout the academic year.
You will get to know everyone living in halls and be the person that they approach with ideas for events. The role is pretty simple really….be the social butterfly for your hall, get people involved and HAVE FUN!! (Oh yeah, did we mention you get paid to do all of the above!!)
If you think this is an opportunity that you would be foolish to miss then find out more or get in touch.
We’d love to hear from you!
"Our aim is to make you feel like halls are your second home. Through our activities programme you can join in our social events, try something new, develop useful skills and make some great friends along the way. I hope you have an awesome year and look forward to seeing you at an event soon!"
