The Derby Talent Team work closely with employers to create meaningful opportunities that enhance our students learning and career prospects. These collaborations strengthen industry engagement and ensure students gain real-world insights.

We have collaborated with a group of organisations known as our platinum employers. Here are a few examples of how we have worked with these employers:

Bates Weston regularly attend our careers and employability events. They have also delivered sessions in-curriculum and have taken part in our employer video series.

Bates Weston have recruited both Year-in-Industry placements and graduates from the University of Derby. They are committed to helping employees reach their professional goals while ensuring a positive workplace culture. They do this through effective and ongoing recruitment, training, development, and engagement.

Derby City Council offer a broad range of opportunities for our students and graduates, from part-time roles to full graduate positions. As our local authority, they are closely connected with the university and are frequent participants in our careers fairs, employer panels, and other employability activities.

Enterprise Mobility have worked with us across a wide range of activities. They are regular exhibitors at our careers fairs and employability events, and they work with our academic teams to run Mock Assessment Centres throughout the year. They also take part in employer panels, deliver webinars, offer drop-ins and fast-track interviews, and have recorded employer videos on topics such as the benefits of placements and how to build a personal brand.

Enterprise Mobility has been listed as one of The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers and believe that attracting and retaining top talent starts with a values-driven culture and a commitment to opportunity. They offer a Management Training Programme which empowers graduates to grow into leadership roles, and their promote-from-within philosophy means careers can flourish without changing companies.

Node4 have worked with our students in several ways. They sponsored our Engineering and Technology Careers Fair, and they regularly work with Computing students on real world live briefs. They also invite students to visit their offices so they can see the workplace in action.

Node4 have graduate and apprenticeship schemes which offer students the chance to build meaningful, long-term careers in a supportive and innovative environment. With clear career and development pathways, a wide range of online learning tools and a culture where learning never stops, Node4 invest in their staff so they can thrive.

Joined Up Care Derbyshire (representing the largest sector in employment including the NHS, Social Care and Independent Health Care Providers) regularly take part in our Career Fairs, including the Graduate Careers and Placements Fair and the Part-time Jobs and Volunteering Fair.

They’ve also joined us for subject-specific events embedding local health and social care careers into programmes at the University, contributing to videos and social media campaigns, and delivered talks to students about the types of roles they offer.

Joined Up Care Derbyshire is the health and social care partnership for adults and children across Derby and Derbyshire. They recruit our graduates every year and provide application feedback sessions, which allow us to share helpful guidance with students so they can strengthen future applications.
