Amber Woodfull – Employer Engagement Manager
Amber has been with the employer engagement team since its creation in 2013 and has played a key role in developing the Derby Internship Programme and the service offer to employers. Amber leads the team to work with local, regional and national organisations to identify their recruitment needs and support them with accessing our talented students and graduates. Amber’s role has a focus on employer activity on campus and looks to develop relationships between key employers and the University. She is passionate about student employability and working to support businesses to offer students and graduates valuable and tangible work experience.

Fiona Naismith - Employer Engagement Co-ordinator
Fiona joined the University in 2013 as an Employability Adviser for the Colleges of Education and Health and Social Care. This was a student facing role supporting students with applications, assessment centre practice and interview technique. Prior to this Fiona worked as a Teacher, Exam Assessor, Employment Opportunities Adviser and FE Learning Centre Coordinator. Fiona is passionate about helping students secure graduate roles and as the Employer Engagement Coordinator Fiona will be responsible for helping students access relevant work experience through Derby internships, placements and graduate roles and engaging local, regional and national employers with our talented students at the University of Derby.

Sally Bryan – Employer Engagement Officer
With a background in placements in further education, Sally joined the team in 2014. She is responsible for all employer engagement activity linked to the College of Education, College of Health and Social Care, and the College of Law, Humanities and Social Science. Sally can support organisations looking to work with students and graduates from these Colleges, whether that be through internships, placements or graduate recruitment. Sally’s role also has a community focus due to the vocational nature of the majority of her Colleges, so she also works closely with our volunteering team.

Libby Beck – Employer Engagement Officer
Libby has worked in an employability role at the University of Derby since 2000. Her role is linked to the College of Engineering and Technology and the College of Life and Natural Science, so she has a broad range of experience with a number of diverse subjects. Libby also manages the placement schemes for both colleges which can range from 40 hours with an employer to full year-long sandwich placements. Libby works with and supports organisations with their recruitment requirements and can offer information and advice to businesses about internships, placements and graduate recruitment.

Kieran Chester – Employer Engagement Officer
Kieran has worked in employability since 2007, initially in the private sector before joining the University in 2009 to support professionals and graduates in to professional work. Whilst at the University, he has been responsible for student and graduate employability, providing one to one advice, facilitating workshops and working with employers to access our talent. He has worked across a range of courses and Colleges throughout his time with the University, and is responsible for working with Employers to create Internships, Placements and Graduate roles for our students.

Lucy Dean - Senior Volunteering Administrator
Lucy joined the Careers and Employment Service in 2013, moving from an administration role into the employer engagement team to coordinate volunteering. Lucy’s background in volunteering, particularly during her time as a student, has provided her with the knowledge and understanding of what students are looking for and how charities can benefit from student volunteers. Lucy is passionate about supporting local and national charities to recruit volunteers and providing students with opportunities to enhance their employability and their experience at University by getting involved in the local community.
