Employer and Community Engagement Team

Who are we?

Jacqui Measures – Employer and Community Engagement Manager

With a background in corporate and graduate recruitment, Jacqui leads the Employer and Community Engagement team in extending and building long-term collaborative relationships with employers, professional bodies, community organisations and external networks.

She has an overarching responsibility for driving and shaping the employer and community engagement activity to maximise employment and work experience opportunities for our students and recent graduates. This could be through our Employer Engagement Team, Student Employment Agency or our volunteering and community links.

Fiona Naismith - Engagement Co-ordinator

Fiona is responsible for helping students access relevant work experience through Derby internships, placements and graduate roles, as well as for engaging local, regional and national employers.

She has built up a wealth of experience, having worked as a teacher, exam assessor, employment opportunities adviser and FE learning centre coordinator. Fiona first joined the University as an Employability Adviser for the Colleges of Education and Health and Social Care, supporting students with applications, assessment centre practice and interview technique.

Libby Beck – Engagement Officer

Libby helps organisations with their recruitment requirements and can offer information and advice to businesses about internships, placements and graduate recruitment. Her role is linked to the College of Engineering and Technology and the College of Life and Natural Sciences, so she has experience across a number of diverse subjects.

Libby also manages the placement schemes for both colleges which can range from 40 hours with an employer to full year-long sandwich placements. Libby has worked in an employability role here since 2000.

Kieran Chester –  Engagement Officer

Kieran is responsible for working with employers to create internships, placements and graduate roles for our students.

He has worked in employability since 2007, initially in the private sector before joining the University in 2009. Since then Kieran has been responsible for student and graduate employability, providing one-to-one advice, facilitating workshops and working with employers to access our talent. He has experience of working with a range of courses and colleges.

Mike Reid – Engagement Officer

Mike is responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with employers and local organisations attached to the Health and Social Care College. Before joining us in 2017, he held a number of roles in the the NHS, including in community health and social care and nursing recruitment.

Lucy Dean - Volunteering Co-ordinator

Lucy is passionate about supporting local and national charities to recruit volunteers and about giving students opportunities to enhance their employability and their university experience through volunteering.

Her background in volunteering, particularly during her time as a student, has given her the knowledge and understanding of what students are looking for and how charities can benefit from student volunteers.
