Creative & Digital Industries

The Big House Programme

The overall aim of The Big House is to help businesses from the creative and digital industry in the region to grow and create new jobs, from potential start-ups and new entrepreneurs, to established small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) looking to expand and bring new products and services to market.

The project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to deliver free support for eligible SMEs in the D2N2 (Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire) area.

What can the University offer you?

Here at the University of Derby’s School of Arts we will use our expertise in digital product design, software and production technologies to deliver a series of sector specific workshops and bespoke support.

Bespoke support packages of 12 hours free support will be developed for each SME through a combination of approaches, giving access to specialist facilities and technical support that is relevant to helping that business. This may involve help to access software and equipment to progress your business practice, utilise digital techniques to promote your business, gain insight into new applications, transition from analogue to digital techniques.

Our main focus will be the delivery of workshops to enable you to develop your learning.
Click here to find out more about our events and workshops.

Alongside this we will provide other support such as 1-1 consultation and advice sessions, peer to peer learning, networking events.

We would also like to work with a number of SMEs to introduce a new product/service, ideally by the adoption of new ideas, processes and concepts, and as such can look at ways of individually tailoring the 12 hours of support by accessing expertise within the University.
