There are two pathways in this Learning Lab:

Pathway One

This pathway is aimed at operations directors and business owners, who want to identify areas where they can make efficiency and productivity improvements. Using a diagnostic tool, we will help you undertake a quick 'health check' of your business in one of the following areas:

  • Supply chain
  • Manufacturing readiness
  • Technology readiness

You will then attend a workshop on the Three-Dimensional Concurrent Engineering (3DCE) approach, and consider how new product design, current manufacturing processes and supply chain design overlap and interact. The aim is to help you use this approach to make your business more resilient to changes in market conditions and operating constraints.

The key outputs of this pathway will be a bespoke report and action plan for your business.

Pathway Two

Rethink your approach to supply chain and operations management. This series of short workshops will introduce you to innovative new tools and techniques that can help you achieve best value. We will cover four distinct areas:

  • Collaboration models/partnership working
  • Supply chain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and scorecards
  • Productivity, purchasing, inventory (WC) project management
  • Principles and behaviours that enhance transparency and continuous improvement: lean NPI and production

Understand what's behind your responses to situations at work and find out what your employees need in the modern business environment. This Learning Lab will help improve your leadership skills and encourage you to start a programme of change, which will support growth in your business.

It will cover:

  • Understanding yourself and your reactions through personality assessments, as well as assessing the people around you
  • Understanding what true leadership is and why new styles of leadership may be needed to help employees cope with the demands of modern working life
  • Developing a vision and strategy to implement and share with people around you whilst developing your personal approach and business culture
  • Devising a 12-month implementation plan around the culture, working activities and processes through employees and colleagues in the business

In this highly competitive global marketplace, the pursuit of new opportunities has become a key element to driving growth. We will explore some valuable techniques in this area and work with you to apply them to your business or business idea.

This Learning Lab is suitable for both start-ups/start-up ideas and in-house projects. It can help you identify the value of a project or find a repeatable and scalable business model.

The objective is to challenge your preconceptions and push the limits of your opportunity. The key output will be a single sheet business plan that explores the value of your idea and leaves you with a process that can be applied to any new opportunity you may want to pursue in the future.
