Creative & Digital Industries - Funded Support for Business - University of Derby

Creative & Digital Industries

The Big House Programme

The overall aim of The Big House is to help businesses from the creative and digital industry in the region to grow and create new jobs, from potential start-ups and new entrepreneurs, to established small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) looking to expand and bring new products and services to market.

The Big House programme will be delivered through seven partners across the Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire region (D2N2) including The Creative Quarter Company, Derby QUAD, Derby Theatre, NBV Enterprise Solutions Ltd, New Art Exchange, Nottingham City Council’s Growth Hub, Nottingham Trent University, The Hive – Nottingham Trent University’s business incubator and the University of Derby’s School of Arts.

Support on offer from these partners includes grants, workshops, one-to-one advice, support, coaching, peer-to-peer learning and networking events.

What can the University offer you?

Here at the University of Derby School of Arts we will use our expertise in digital product design, software and production technologies to deliver a series of sector specific workshops and bespoke support for new, established and growing SMEs, building capacity for growth with an emphasis on access to digital technologies combined with commercialisation.

A combination of approaches will ensure that businesses are provided with 12 hours of free support, which will include access to specialist facilities and technical support.

Our main focus will be the delivery of workshops to enable you to develop your learning, give you access to software and equipment to progress your business practice, utilise digital techniques to promote your business, gain insight into new applications, transition from analogue to digital techniques.

Alongside workshops, we would also like to work with a number of SMEs to introduce a new product/service, ideally by the adoption of new ideas, processes and concepts, and as such can look at ways of individually tailoring the 12 hours of support by accessing expertise within the University.

The project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to deliver free support for eligible SMEs in the D2N2 area.

To register your interest or to discuss alternative workshops or business support that may benefit you, please contact the University of Derby Project Team.
