This luxurious space is open to the public (ground floor and first floor) and brings together innovation, expertise and opportunity all under one roof.

Our contemporary rooms are suitable for meetings and events of all sizes, from small gatherings of just 2 people to conferences for up to 70 delegates. Alongside this, the space offers impressive lecture theatres and flexible exhibition spaces that provide the perfect setting for your next event. As a hub for undergraduate and postgraduate study, The Cavendish Building is alive with energy, enterprise and a real-world focus.

Ideally located just a few minutes’ walk from Derby City Centre, The Cavendish Building is easily accessible and well connected to our other University of Derby sites and travel options.

All our meeting rooms include the following in the rate:

  • Air conditioning and heating control system

For your event of 10 or more people, we are able to offer you our Day Delegate Package.

From £45 per person, plus VAT, you will receive:

  • Tea, coffee, pastries and yoghurt pots upon arrival
  • Tea, coffee and cookies mid-morning
  • 2-course hot buffet lunch
  • Tea, coffee, traybakes and fruit platter mid-afternoon

We think your day should be as enjoyable as it is productive, which is why we're committed to first-class catering. You can choose from a selection of delicious options that can be made to suit any event formality and dietary requirements.

Start your day with a delicious selection of hot breakfast rolls or pastries to get your guests ready for the day ahead.

Refreshments can be made available for break times throughout the day.

Our lunch options are a great choice if you are hosting a full-day event with us. You can choose from: sandwich buffets, a 2-course cold buffet and a 2-course hot buffet, tailored to suit your needs.

Guests can also enjoy convenient on-site food and drink options, including Kitchen at Cavendish who serve a range of freshly prepared hot and cold dishes, and Blends, the Union of Students-run coffee shop, which is perfect for refuelling between sessions.

The Cavendish Building does not offer any on-site parking, but our team are happy to provide more information about local parking options, and other travel suggestions.
