Bone Scan DEXA Service

The University of Derby has over ten years of experience delivering DEXA bone scans for the NHS at its dedicated clinic at the main Kedleston Road Campus.  We have also been delivering the same service at Queen’s Hospital, Burton since the beginning of 2017.

The service is currently being commissioned by local CCG’s and Trusts that are using the service to manage the care of patients at risk of osteoporosis.

The management of fragility fractures consumes vast health and social care resources.  Conservative estimates suggest the total cost to the UK economy is in excess of £2.1 billion per year.  For women over 60 years of age, fragility fractures account for more than 2 million days spent in hospital, more than many other chronic diseases.

About the service

The bone scan DEXA service is fully compliant with CQC regulations, see. See here for more information.
