Introducing DIBS Consultancy Hub

Derby International Business School (DIBS) is proud to introduce the DIBS Consultancy Hub – a student-led consultancy hub within The Cavendish Building that offers a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application. The Consultancy Hub operates as a structured, supervised environment where students can offer consultancy services to businesses, startups, and non-profit organisations in the local community.

Through the Hub, students can actively collaborate with SMEs and other organisations, addressing real-world challenges and co-developing innovative solutions. This exciting new initiative provides invaluable hands-on experiential learning for students, allowing them to establish a robust professional network and portfolio, whilst delivering tangible benefits to local businesses and the local community.

DIBS Consultancy Hub support

The Consultancy Hub focuses on three key areas for student and SME collaboration: The Business Hub, UniComms, and The Service Hub.

Offering specialised student support from a suite of Business and Management programmes. For market, product and customer segmentation, innovative strategies, corporate social responsibility, digital transformation, human and financial capital, growth and improved performance, and effective competitive advantage.

The University of Derby is at the forefront of innovative teaching to ensure students are equipped with the highest level skills that meet industry needs. Our in-house Marketing and Public Relations agency, UniComms Derby, works with major international, national and regional organisations to develop these skills. Students are guided by highly experienced lecturers and challenged to deliver live industry briefs in:

  • Communications/copywriting services (news, features and sport)
  • Marketing Services
  • Public Relations and Social Media

Interested in working with UniComms Derby?

We have a limited number of opportunities for businesses, community organisations and sports clubs. All UniComms Derby services are provided to our partners free of charge. The only investment we ask for from clients is a little time and a lot of encouragement. 

Offering specialised support from students studying in hospitality, tourism and event management. For event planning and management, tourism consultancy, and hospitality-related services.

Student involvement

As a student of Derby International Business School, you will have the opportunity to support the Consultancy Hub both voluntarily and through your specialist modules. Depending on your subject specialism, you will have the opportunity to work on live briefs, meet with clients, carry out research and advise accordingly. The Consultancy Hub provide students with a real-world opportunity to learn and develop knowledge and practical skills.
