End Point Assessment (EPA)

Select the University of Derby as your End Point Assessment organisation - for advice, support and quality assurance.

An End Point Assessment (EPA) is the last “hurdle” in the Apprenticeship Journey- it’s the final assessment that an apprentice undertakes to confirm that they can demonstrate the requisite knowledge skills and behaviours set out in the apprenticeship standard.

The University of Derby draws on a long history of expertise in work based learning and excellence in teaching and learning to provide a supportive, yet robust, End Point Assessment Service for a select number of Apprenticeship standards. Our approach ensures that End Point Assessments are fair, valid and reliable, being comparable with other HE qualifications as well as meeting the requirements for the apprenticeship standard.

If you select the University as your End Point Assessment Organisation we will provide:

Quality Assurance

All EPA assessors are recruited for their knowledge, skills and experience related to the specific apprenticeships standard that they are assessing. They have an annual development review.
All assessments are subject to internal moderation on a sampling basis, and there is peer review of assessment practice on an annual basis.

A formal report is produced for each training provider, highlighting areas of good practice and areas for future development. A review of assessment practice is undertaken after each cohort of assessments and an action plan produced to enhance and develop good practice and resolve any issues that may arise. The Apprenticeship Quality and Standards Committee has oversight of the action plan to ensure that it is implemented.

We are a registered Endpoint Assessment organisation for the following standards:
