Expressions Academy of Performing Arts Ltd
Expressions Academy of Performing Arts was established in 1989 by Maxine Glasby under the name ‘Discoworld International School of Dance’. The school catered purely for dance. As the performing arts world has evolved through the years, the introduction of Musical Theatre, Acting and Singing became a necessity to work in performing arts; the school became readily available for the teaching of the three disciplines.
2003 saw the changing of the company name to Expressions Performing Arts, involving the opening of the full time Academy, and the Casting Agency as well as the running of the part time school.
The Academy is fully accredited with CDET (Council Dance Education and Training), IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) and is a registered centre with Trinity College London.
In 2013 Expressions became an Edexcel centre registered to teach BTEC qualifications. The students in the first and second years of the course study the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Musical Theatre). The qualification and training is in affiliation with Buxton and Leek College.
Expressions Academy of Performing Arts offers a 3-year musical Theatre diploma, studying Dance, Singing and Acting in conjunction with a 2 year Level 3 BTEC in Performing Arts (Musical Theatre). Students travel from across the country to train at Expressions because of the friendly nature of the college.
Opportunities are available for two full scholarships to study in conjunction with the Stage Newspaper and previous students have been involved in West End theatre performances at The Royal Albert Hall; Sadler’s Wells; Her Majesty’s Theatre and The London Palladium.
