Lee Day is digital guru at creative agency threeguru.
The University’s internship programme gave us the opportunity to be flexible and forward-thinking with our recruitment process.
With the support of the employer engagement team we were able to start our recruitment cycle much earlier than we previously would have done and react to growth areas within our business.
Working with new talent
Within the creative industry, it is vital that we can attract the best marketing brains and practical thinkers. We recognised the internship programme was an excellent opportunity for us to gain an understanding of potential employees.
It allowed us to work closely with a pool of talented and progressive students who could potentially be an asset to our team. It is also an excellent opportunity for potential employees to get to know threeguru, our client base and how they interact with our business.
The whole experience has been such an overwhelming success that we are literally counting down the days until we are involved again.
The creative sector is such a hard industry to break into and we all have first-hand experience of this so, as employers, it is important we give something back to nurture the next generation of Derby’s creative talent.
We try, where possible, to interact with course tutors to ensure creative briefs are reflective of an ever-changing landscape.
An ongoing journey
Our three directors have been nurturing creative talent for more than a decade and some of the graduates we have employed are now running their own studios.
Of course, we would like to help more.
