Network of Entrepreneurs - Real world learning - University of Derby

Network of Entrepreneurs

Network of Entrepreneurs "The networking event was eye-opening, motivating and I felt confident to talk to business people on a professional level. These types of events set Derby University apart from other universities and makes me feel I made the right choice in choosing Derby" - Kevin Weier, current student.

Our regular Network of Entrepreneurs events were set up to create links and bonds between entrepreneurs and University of Derby students' that have an entrepreneurial streak and might want to start a business.

The events aim to give students' the chance to meet leading local and national entrepreneurs, while entrepreneurs share their knowledge, experiences and insights, as well as offering support and mentoring to budding entrepreneurs.

Speakers have previously included Rupert Carr, Dean Jackson and Graham Mulholland, all leading entrepreneurs in the region.‌

Our Network of Entrepreneurs (DUNE) was launched in November 2014 with the aims to:

  • create links and bonds between local, national and international entrepreneurs and students at the University that want to start up a business or have an entrepreneurial spirit
  • create awareness of the support mechanisms that the university and supporters/sponsors can offer to entrepreneurs
  • increase students' networking, interpersonal skills, entrepreneurial spirit, knowledge of real world business set up.
