Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Entertainment Engineering
Students from our BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Industrial Year, BSc (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering and BSc (Hons) Sound, Light and Live Event Technology have finalised their studies this year. These students have completed their final year projects and a selection of posters showing their work was displayed during the Big Show. Students have applied the wonder of modern electronics to do many things. This includes capturing energy from the sun, probing under water harbour acoustics, a new type of heart monitor, processing power from button cells and Megawatt power stations, flight control of a quadcopter, creating virtual environments by manipulating sound and light, controlling autonomous vehicles, applying optical fibres for new types of measurement, advancing technology for the “Internet of Things”, optimising rock concert loudspeaker stacks, and using high-speed computers to process live data. Each of these has been under the supervision of an expert staff member, and all have direct applications in industry or real life. Alongside the posters there will be some equipment displays, including a working quadcopter.
