Level 2

Intermediate Apprenticeship (level 2)

An Intermediate Apprenticeship is the equivalent of five GCSEs at grade A-C. Our range of Intermediate Apprenticeships are available at our Further Education College, University of Derby - Buxton.

Advanced Apprenticeship (level 3)

An Advanced Apprenticeship is the equivalent of two A-levels. Our range of Advanced Apprenticeships are available at our Further Education College, University of Derby - Buxton.

Higher Apprenticeships (level 4 & 5)

Higher Apprenticeships are employer-led programmes focused on developing the skills particular sectors require. A Higher apprenticeship is a work-based course which includes the award of a foundation degree or equivalent level qualification.

Degree Apprenticeship (level 6 & 7)

Our degree apprenticeships bring together the best of higher and vocational education and provide the equivalent of a full bachelors degree.

We work with excellent local and national employers and professional bodies, including Rolls-Royce and the NHS, to deliver a qualification that provides you with both the hands-on and academic learnings you need to be successful in your chosen profession.

You will be employed throughout your apprenticeship, spending part of your time with your employer and part of your time at university. All tuition fees are covered by your employer.

About the Role

As a Commis Chef Apprentice at The Cupola, you’ll support the kitchen team in preparing and serving fresh, high-quality food across our breakfast, lunch, and evening menus. You’ll learn essential kitchen skills including food preparation, cooking, plating, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety. Working closely with senior chefs, you’ll develop your skills in a fast-paced, professional kitchen while contributing to smooth day-to-day service and consistently great food for our guests.

Duties to include:

The Commis Chef Apprentice will receive hands-on, on-the-job training in a professional kitchen environment. Training will include food preparation and cooking techniques, use of kitchen equipment, food hygiene and safety, stock control, and maintaining cleanliness standards. The apprentice will work closely with experienced chefs, gaining practical skills, confidence, and an understanding of day-to-day kitchen operations while working towards their formal apprenticeship qualification.
