Intermediate Apprenticeship (level 2)

An Intermediate Apprenticeship is the equivalent of five GCSEs at grade A-C. Our range of Intermediate Apprenticeships are available at our Further Education College, University of Derby - Buxton.

Advanced Apprenticeship (level 3)

An Advanced Apprenticeship is the equivalent of two A-levels. Our range of Advanced Apprenticeships are available at our Further Education College, University of Derby - Buxton.

Higher Apprenticeships (level 4 & 5)

Higher Apprenticeships are employer-led programmes focused on developing the skills particular sectors require. A Higher apprenticeship is a work-based course which includes the award of a foundation degree or equivalent level qualification.

Degree Apprenticeship (level 6 & 7)

Our degree apprenticeships bring together the best of higher and vocational education and provide the equivalent of a full bachelors degree.

We work with excellent local and national employers and professional bodies, including Rolls-Royce and the NHS, to deliver a qualification that provides you with both the hands-on and academic learnings you need to be successful in your chosen profession.

You will be employed throughout your apprenticeship, spending part of your time with your employer and part of your time at university. All tuition fees are covered by your employer.

About the Employer

We are a busy golf club on the outskirts of Derby providing food and beverages for our members breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner. We cater for functions up to around 200 people. We use fresh ingredients and make 95% of our produce in house.

About the Role

The apprenticeship is designed to provide the employee with specific skills, knowledge and behaviour needed to become a commis chef whilst also completing formal training alongside University of Derby Buxton.

Duties include completing daily HACCP paperwork, Looking ahead to work towards weekly preparation, Making any meals that come in via front of house staff, Cleaning down work areas, Keeping on top of staff training needs, Allergy information up to date, Places orders away FIFO.

Hours: 40 hours per week. Mon 9-5, Tues 9-5, Wed 9-9, Thurs 9-5, Fri 9-6, Sat 8-6, Sun 7.30 - 6. Apprentice will work 4 days out of 7. Hours vary to the business needs.

Entry Requirements

Maths & English GCSE at C/4 or better is preferred.
