Sophie Gilbert

Sophie Gilbert, Psychology student talks about her experience with the URSS

Why I applied to the URSS?

I chose the URSS because I felt that it was something that I can put on my CV and show prospective employers that I have developed some transferable skills.

My Project and why I chose to pursue it

My topic is to do with facial recognition in relation to individuals. When I was choosing a topic, this one jumped out at me. Along with this I don’t know much about dyslexics and to be able to link and explore two areas which have previously been unlinked was a great opportunity.

What I gained from taking part of the project?

I feel like I have got to know my tutors better and connect with them. Before the URSS I felt like I didn’t really know them, but now I feel like a can ask them anything, not just about things on my course. I developed the skill of making a poster. It teaches you to pick out the really information and then present on a poster, which can help you with assessments.
