TEL Media team nominated for national film award
A film produced by Learning Enhancement’s TEL Media team, Forced Marriages and Honour Based Abuse, has been nominated for a Learning on Screen award in the ‘In-House Production - Courseware and Curriculum’ category.
The filmwas produced as the result of an exciting partnership between Learning Enhancement, The Institute of Education and University Honorand, Jasvinder Sanghera CBE, head of charity Karma Nirvana.
Although illegal in the UK, forced marriages, where young girls are sent abroad to be married without their consent, still pose a massive threat to thousands of individuals. This film reveals the stories of three survivors of forced marriage and honour-based abuse, violent crimes committed to defend the “honour” of the family, uncovering their experiences and the abuse endured from close relatives and their communities.
The film will be showcased and the winners announced at the Learning on Screen Awards Ceremony on the evening of Thursday 27 April 2017 at the BFI Southbank, London.
