Improving campus sustainability

Hydration stations

Many of the water coolers and drinking fountains at the University are mains-fed, which reduces the environmental impact of providing bottled water. These stations are available throughout all of our sites in Derby, Buxton, Chesterfield and Leek.

None of our waste is sent to landfill. If it can't be recycled, it is turned into energy.

Energy sources and management

Part of our electricity is generated on site using wind turbines and solar panels. We are replacing our lamps with LEDs (light emitting diodes) and installing automatic sensors wherever feasible.
