Accommodation guaranteed for first years

Students eating dinner in a flat

I chose to live in halls because it was convenient, close to the campus and safe. I'd definitely recommend it because you meet people from all over the world.

We can guarantee you a place in halls if you're a first year, as long as we receive your application by 31 July

Most first year students live in halls of residence - they're not far from our campuses, they're safe and they're good value for money.

Our halls are made up of individual flats and have:

  • on site 24 hour staff cover, security and CCTV
  • well equipped shared kitchens
  • a laundry
  • a common room for social activities
  • fast and efficient broadband
  • Freeview TV and radio through your PC
  • free internal phone calls
  • free bike storage
  • car parking at an extra cost.

You can apply for your room in halls as soon as you've got a firm offer from us. The earlier you apply, the better chance you have of getting the room you want, but we guarantee you'll get a place in halls for your first year, as long as you apply for your room before 31 July.

You'll get a warm welcome when you arrive and we'll make moving in as easy as possible.

In Derby, the Unibus runs close to all our halls. But if you don't want to catch the bus, you can easily walk between all the halls and our University sites.
