Personal touch

Lecturer with student

Over 85% of our classes have fewer than 30 students in them, so you'll be heard and get more out of each class.

At Derby, you'll have to work just as hard to get your degree as at other universities, but we like to do things a bit differently.

We believe in:

  • courses that are affordable and reasonably priced, with no hidden extras
  • smaller class sizes, so everyone can be heard and you can get more out of each class
  • personal tutors, who you can arrange to see whenever you need to
  • making sure you develop the knowledge and skills employers value
  • treating you as an individual, not just a number
  • tutors who have actually worked in their subjects - and now want to teach you about it
  • listening to our students - they sit on all our senior management committees, including the Government Council, our highest decision making body
  • letting you be yourself - we're proud that we've got a good mix of students from different backgrounds all working and playing hard together.

And more importantly, we don't just talk about these things - we actually do them.
