Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team

Volunteers are being recruited for student Street Safe. The project, organised by the High Peak Community Safety Partnership and the University of Derby Buxton Student's Union, involves students patrolling the town centre during nights out, in high visibility jackets and carrying radios.
It aims to keep Buxton safe by quickly alerting the police, door staff and other support workers to any incidents.
The Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team also uses the University of Derby Buxton's meeting rooms as the venue for their meetings, which are held at Buxton Campus.
The meetings are held four times a year and are designed to give residents and the Buxton community the chance to speak to the police and other organisations about any issues or concerns they may have.
At the meeting, around three priorities will be set for the police and other organisations to target during the next three months, these can be anything from anti-social behaviour, to damage, speeding traffic or road safety issues or other issues the police can help with.
The team includes Sgt. Mark Wright, PC Tom Breakwell, PCSO Michaela Daniels and PCSO Matt Cox and a team of Special Constables.
PCSO Matt Cox, who organises the meetings said: "The university building in Buxton is instantly recognisable to anyone visiting the town and is easily accessible due to its position within the town and also the facilities inside the building ensures that anybody who wishes to speak with us can attend the meetings."
The Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team also regularly visit the university to offer safety and security advice to students and work with the student's union for the Street Safe initiative, where students can volunteer to help keep each other safe during nights out in the town centre.
