Buxton College Hospitality students raise money for local charities
A Magnificent Achievement
Afternoon Tea with Jack Howard, Jaegar Howard, Tracey Stafford (Course Tutor), Tom Winbow and Callum Burgin
Sara Morten, Course Co-ordinator
Casino Night with Nikki Bell, Daniel Holt, Rebecca Sherratt and Clare Brown.
As part of their course the BTEC National Diploma Hospitality second year students, organised not one, not two but three exciting events which raised money for local charities.
The first event was an Afternoon Tea inspired by 'The Ritz', complete with silver tea pots, porcelain cake stands and of course a wide range of delicious homemade cakes. The students raised £469 for Breast Cancer Care.
The second event was held in a popular local licensed venue 'The Vault', generously provided by Steve and Karen Bell. The main games played on the night were Black Jack and Poker. 'The going was good' as guests had the thrill of being at the races, there was only one steward's enquiry! The students raised £381 for Cancer Research.
The third event was a luxurious and sophisticated Cocktails and Canapés evening. Guests were treated to three courses of mouth watering, hand made canapés and were entertained with live music from 'Groove Digger'. The secret ingredient was a magician from the magic circle who captivated the guests whilst they sipped on a myriad of delicious cocktails. The students raised £650 for Ashgate Hospice.
By working as a team and pulling together all the skills and knowledge they have gained over the past 2 years the groups raised, in total, an amazing £1500. A deserving result for all their hard work.
We would all like to thank everyone who so generously supported the students with their time, advice, guidance, raffle prizes, donations and attendance making the evenings truly memorable.
