Derbyshire Sexual Health Promotion Service
What can we do for you?
The peer education outreach service run by Derbyshire Sexual Health Promotion Service is delivered through a team of trained sexual health advisers. We visit the the Buxton campus, on a four-weekly basis offering:
- Free and confidential sexual health advice, support and information
- Free safer sex packs containing condoms and lubricants
- Information about sexual health or related services on campus (and beyond)
- Free pregnancy testing and Chlamydia screening
- Emotional health and wellbeing support
- C-card condom distribution service
How can you access us?
Please feel free to visit our stand in the Dome and ask anything you want to know about your sexual health, relationships, sexuality or gender issues. The team operate under a strict policy of confidentiality (please ask a team member what this means if you have anything you are concerned about sharing).

Interested in working as a peer educator?
We normally recruit new members to the team on an annual basis. In order to apply, you must be:
- Aged between 18 - 30 years
- Willing to work late nights, usually at weekends
- Willing to travel to the Service base in Chesterfield for the start of each shift
- Able to commit to two shifts in every four-week period
- Able to attend a 10-day training course prior to starting the job
- Outgoing, friendly with an open mind and a good sense of humour!

LGBT Drop Ins
LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender) Drop ins take place monthly in the Student Wellbeing Service in Clarendon House.
