Who is the Get Ahead event aimed at?

The Get Ahead event is aimed at Higher Education students who have disclosed a:

  • long term health condition
  • specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia
  • an autistic spectrum disorder
  • mental health support need

What can the event do for me?

The aim of this event is to assist students to settle into university life by providing information and support.

Coming to university for the first time can be difficult and challenging for many students. Being able to complete some of the administration work in a calm quiet environment has benefited many students in the past.

How will I benefit by attending the Get Ahead event?

You will be given the opportunity to:

  • Move in to Halls of Residence early without additional costs and get to know Buxton and our campus before university starts
  • Enrol for their course early, with extra support from academic and administrative staff
  • Meet the Student Wellbeing Service team, who will work with you to sort out any problems you may be experiencing
  • Make friends from the onset of your university experience

When is the Get Ahead event for 2012/13?

This year Get Ahead takes place on Wednesday 12 September - Friday 14 September.
