Sometimes, it's only when you've started at university that you realise you're experiencing more academic problems than your friends.
Maybe you're experiencing a physical difficulty, or a problem keeping up with everyone else academically, or your marks aren't reflecting your ability and understanding.
We will listen to you, and advise you on the support that may be available to you here at Buxton.
If you're a higher education student with a disability or specific learning difficulty (such as dyslexia), you may be able to apply for Disabled Students' Allowance. This can help with the cost of support workers, equipment and other study related costs. We can assist you in applying for this allowance.
You may be entitled to receive an individual Student Support Plan that will inform your lecturers and other members of staff about your support needs, and following assessment.
For further information contact the Student Wellbeing Service.
For comprehensive online self-help and guidance on the different types of support available, please go to support for disabled students.
Information for Buxton College students only
If you're a disabled student studying a further education course, you'll need to speak to your tutor, who will put you in contact with the Learning Development Service in the Top Up Zone. Alternatively you can call into the Top Up Zone in the Dome.
