Management trainee programme at Aqua Dome!
I'm currently doing my 18 month management trainee programme in the "Aqua Dome" in the Ötztal valley, Austria. It's a very well known skiing area in the winter and hiking area in the summer. It's a four star superior hotel with 140 rooms and a thermal spa, which can be used by the public as well as those staying in the hotel.
Great experiences
It's a very interesting experience to see how a hotel and thermal spa works; which person is responsible for which area and how everything is interconnected.
I have experienced each of the hotels departments from a practical point of view and the administrative point of view to get fully involved in each process.
The future...
I'll be finished here in April 2010 and after that I'm planning to go into the area of marketing in tourism. I have enjoyed the marketing area in my hotel a lot and I realised that the tasks that are performed there meet my interests ie languages, working with various agencies, internal and external advertising.
I'm planning on applying for a marketing assistant position after my management training and take it from there; possibly apply to Germany or Austria.
And Italy...
I've also learned Italian as it was offered by my hotel for free for all their employees. I'm planning to go to Italy for a few months next year to learn the language properly, because Austria, Germany and Italy have a lot to do with each other regarding tourism and so it's never wrong to learn it.
I've got to know a lot of people here in the hotel and maybe somebody will even recommend me to other places, so I'm quite excited about where I'll end up next...
