Placement opportunities on your course
Jessica - a placement student
I love the job and the people are great.
”If you are studying for a foundation degree your placement will last up to 6 months. If you are studying for a BA or joint honours degree you can choose to take a placement year between your second and third year. As part of this placement year you can also gain an additional award to you degree.
A placement is a great addition to your course as it gives you the chance to gain work experience in the industry, this makes you highly employable when you have finished your course.
We have links with many different businesses taking on placement students, including UK businesses such as Chester Grosvenor & Spa, Izaak Walton Hotel, Carnegie Club/Skibo Castle, Gleneagles & Crieff Hydro. We also have placement opportunities in other countries such as the USA, Europe, Australia and the Falkland Islands.
We spoke to Jessica, a 2nd Year FdA Culinary Arts student who is undertaking on placement at Skibo Castle (made especially famous as the venue Madonna married Guy Ritchie in). Jessica has excelled in her placement to the point that she has been offered a paid position.
"I have just signed a contract to start from the 1st August on a paid basis as this is when I was supposed to be leaving but they have asked me to stay on which is great. I love the job and the people are great. I have been working on the recipes for the menu and they seem impressed, so far so good!"
