Outdoor Recreation, Adventure Tourism and Countryside Management

Adventure Tourism

Adventure Tourism is off piste! It's around the world, around the country and around the corner in the Peak District. It's a new area of study that combines the classic tourism offer of sun, sea, sand and sangria with sustainability, style and snow. It's about being forward looking, entrepreneurial and challenging the classic notions of the tourism experience.

Countryside Management

Countryside Management isn't all wellies and spades - you'll get the chance to use the latest technologies, such as wikis, blogs, podcasts and audio trail mp3 recordings, to help you to get the most out of your outdoor practical experience. You'll write countryside management plans using live case studies, enabling you to develop the experience that employers are looking for.

Outdoor Recreation

Outdoor Recreation is based in some of the most dramatic scenery in the UK. You'll have regular opportunities to hone your outdoor skills, whether your passion is climbing, canoeing, kayaking or caving. You'll also be able to develop your wilderness skills and take National Governing Body qualifications.

Events Management and Hospitality

Events Management

Our Events Management courses are unique because not only will you study in a real event venue, you'll also get to run it. The events industry is rapidly growing, with opportunities ranging from conferences and exhibitions to larger high profile events both in the UK and overseas. As the only university in the UK to have won the Excellence In Training category twice at the National Outdoor Events Association Awards, you can be confident that this course will give you a great start when applying for jobs in the industry.

Hospitality

Our Hospitality courses are professionally accredited by the Institute of Hospitality. This course offers you a unique opportunity to study this subject in an experiential context. Hands on experience of management within the industry is a strong feature of the course, which means that you will graduate with the knowledge and skills necessary for immediate employment.
