Once you are here
We will help with things like registration with the Police and the Doctors (if you hear someone say 'GP' they refer to a Doctor as a General Practitioner). We hope you enjoy your time here with us and can offer further advice and support through our support services in Buxton.
At the beginning of each academic year we organise orientation and welcome events which will help you settle in better.
The University of Derby is also part of the Erasmus University Charter where we can offer EU students an exchange with a university in another European country for up to one academic year. Through an Erasmus exchange you gain both academic recognition and enhanced employment prospects.
Work while you study
You might feel the need to find a part time job to help you pay for your living costs while you study. It is worth knowing that Buxton is a small town but there are many local employers.
We have our own Student Employment Agency where you can sign up to receive weekly emails to tell you about current job vacancies. There is also the Employability Portal which advertises volunteering opportunities, guest speakers, work placements and graduate positions. Additionally you can apply to work in many of our commercial facilities such as Spa at the Dome and the Restaurant at the Dome.

We want you to settle in and explore further out of your academic world through many of the events and activities that take place in and around campus.

Progression
Our innovative postgraduate courses focus on expanding your skills and knowledge for further progression to managerial levels in the tourism, events, hospitality and the spa industries.
