About us
Prince Charles opened our Buxton Campus.
The Devonshire Dome
At the heart of our campus is the Devonshire Dome and has been around since the 1700's when it started out as a stable for the Duke of Devonshire's horses. In the late 1800's it was converted into a hospital, and in 2001 it was taken over by the University of Derby and opened by HRH Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
Facilities
The facilities across our campus include seven specialist kitchens, a commercial day spa, restaurants, a new sport's centre with climbing wall and gym, library, halls of residence, Student Union shop and even hair and beauty salons. This obviously doesn't include our many learning rooms, lecture theatres, sports laboratories and suites with modern computing equipment.
The home of 'real world' learning
Lots of our courses offer you the chance to go on a work placement. It is a great way of developing all the skills employers are looking for, as well as gaining relevant work experience which will make you stand out from the crowd.
Our vision of high quality experiential learning in real world environments and close engagement with employers makes us the University of your choice.
