Markeaton park and ride
Markeaton Park and Ride (term time only)
If you need to drive to the Derby Campus, but don't qualify for a permit at Kedleston Road, you can buy a permit for the Markeaton Park Park and Ride (location shown below). It's around three minutes drive or 10-15 minutes walk from either site.
Please note: numbers of permits are limited and you must register your interest before the close of enrolment (Wednesday 23 January).
Shuttle buses
Buses (the No.4 and No.5) run from the Park and Ride to Kedleston Road, Markeaton Street and Britannia Mill. Use of these buses is free (only) between the Park and Ride and teaching sites. There are five to six buses to both sites every hour. Full details of timetables and routes can be found here.
Costs and getting a permit
- A permit for Markeaton Park is £57 per year. You don't have to pay and display if you have this permit.

In order to obtain a permit this January, you must be a full time January start student who has completed enrolment. You then need to register your interest by emailing us at eqs@derby.ac.uk with the subject line 'Markeaton Park Permit Request' by Wednesday 23 January.

We will then select students at random from the group who have declared an interest and offer the chance to purchase a permit until there are no further permits left. If you're selected you'll receive an email to your Unimail email address with further details.
Security
- High spec CCTV has been installed at the Markeaton Park car park.
- Brand new, high standard lighting will be in place in time for the dark evenings.
- Park Rangers and City Council parking staff regularly patrol the area.
Dates and times
Buses run from approximately 8.00am to 6.00pm. After 4.30pm parking is free and unrestricted at the Kedleston Road site, so you could move your car there if staying late.
The Park and Ride (MP) permit is valid at the park on weekdays only between these dates:
- 10 September - 14 December 2012
- 2 January - 28 March 2013
- 8 April - 7 June 2013
Outside of these dates this permit is valid at Kedleston Road, and will expire on 31 August 2013.
Please remember that numbers are limited and permits are offered on a first come first serve basis.
