My background

"I have an Italian diploma for Accountancy and Foreign Language Correspondence. I worked for international Shipping Brokerage and Chartered Accountancy companies in Monte-Carlo for seven years and I decided to continue my studies, because I had reached the point where I needed a degree to further my career.

As I have always worked in locations where the Tourism Events industry thrives, I decided it would be a good choice to take a Joint BA (Hons) degree in Travel & Tourism and Events Management. I chose the Fast-Track course offered by The University of Derby in Buxton, because it was ideal and 'ticked all the right boxes'."

Starting the course

"When I started the course I was an Anglo-Italian 26-year-old international student, who was a little unsure of how the future two years would be. I was therefore very pleased to find out that I could effectively manage to follow the course, despite never having studied in the UK before."

It's been a great experience

"The course was professionally structured, based on a friendly atmosphere and also presented a number of various challenges, such as 'Dragons Den' presentations, teamwork and organising events, which are ideal ways to prepare the students for future business environments.

During the summer season I decided to take the Work Placement Module, which was an excellent experience because I worked as a Resort Representative and Excursion Guide in Austria for five months, which definitely helped towards my character building and also contributed towards the course.

I would recommend studying at the University of Derby in Buxton, because the lecturers are both professional and helpful, the Devonshire Campus is located within the beautiful Peak District and the course hosts a limited number of students, which brings all the advantages of being within a relatively small group."
