Sarah Izard - BA (Hons) Travel and Tourism Management

Formula 1

Sarah's new job has lead to her working on big sporting events including formula 1 events.

When I look back at my time at University I am glad that I not only was successful in my education, but that I branched out and experienced other aspects of University life that other students miss out on.

Sarah Izard, graduate from BA (Hons) Travel and Tourism Management.

Great results

My name is Sarah, and I graduated from the University of Derby Buxton in 2009 with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Travel and Tourism Management.

Getting involved

My time at University has gone so quickly, and I've been involved in all aspects as much as possible, including the social and educational aspects. Also I've been involved in lots of different projects with the Student's Union.

Benefits of taking opportunities

Working with the Student's Union as a sport representative has allowed me to realise that this was another interest of mine and that I would like to involve myself more in sport.

Some of the things I have learned through my experiences at University have been helpful when I've applied for jobs. As the recession hit the job market and graduates hard, I found that the experience I had gained working with the University and the Student's Union helped me to secure a full time job working with a sports tour organisation.

Great job working on big sporting events

I have been in my current job now for well over six months, and every day I am bringing the ideas I learned at University into my working life. Since being at BAC Sport, I have been involved in working on big sporting events including the 2010 FIFA World Cup, various Formula 1 races, and the UK Media for England games, and have been lucky enough to have been taken on a business conference in Lisbon.

When I look back at my time at University I am glad that I not only was successful in my education, but that I branched out and experienced other aspects of University life that other students miss out on.
