Supporting your learning

During the BA (Hons) Travel and Tourism Management course, you'll have the opportunity to go on a variety of trips, to places like Ilam Hall near Ashbourne.

Our second and third year Travel and Tourism Management students went to Ilam Hall for a retreat in October last year. Travel and Tourism staff led the students on guided tours of the National Trusts property at Ilam, past Dovedale and Beechenhill Farm. The key theme of the retreat was reflection and critical thinking.

What our students said

"This trip was a great icebreaker event as you to got to know other students on the course and interacted with people you may not normally talk to.

It was also really valuable it gave us a deeper understanding of, how tourism works in reality, in particular within the Peak District. The Hall is now a youth hostel so it gave us an insight into the management of this kind of accommodation.

It was nice to get out of the classroom, and this practical element of being out in the industry itself is really useful."

Will Young is a third year BA (Hons) Travel and Tourism Mangement student.
