We take you overseas on a study visit

Ou BA (Hons) Travel and Tourism Management students visited Budapest in Hungary for part of one of the modules on their course.

Will Young, one of our students reports:

Experience a new culture

"We stayed at Vesprem University in their student halls of residence, which were more like a hotel.

It was a great opportunity to explore the area, interact and network with foreign students.

The language barrier was challenging but it was a good experience to learn some of the Hungarian language.

We had the opportunity to experience what we had studied in the classroom first hand, in a real tourism environment."

Explore a new country

"We explored a variety of places including Vesprem itself and Lake Balaton. We also went to a natural spa, which was like a big underground lake. It was very interesting as it was quite deep under the ground. It was a bit smelly down there!"

We also saw the Chain Bridge, Buda Castle and the Parliament building."

An educational trip

"It was really interesting because Hungary is a land-locked country. People come from all over Europe to holiday there, so it gave us a different perspective on holiday destinations.

We experienced first hand tourism in a European country that wasn't a typical sun holiday destination. It gave us an understanding of a different style of tourism."
