Why choose this course?
- It's a specialist programme, which emphasises creative design using traditional crafts and new advanced technology.

About the course
Initially you will enjoy an introduction to different aspects of textile design and its relation to fashion and interiors. This will be followed by opportunities to develop a range of skills, including visual research, creative design, textile and information technology, as well as communications. You'll learn about the history of textiles and their place in culture, gaining an awareness of the international industry. Our enthusiastic and highly experienced team will make sure you have a creative, supportive and friendly environment to study in.

Textiles graduates enter the exciting world of textile design working as designers, managers and production advise in either woven, knitted or printed textiles in a wide range of organisations. Like many recent graduates you could make your name and your living as a designer or producer selling your own product line through the internet and galleries.
You could work on a freelance basis, establishing your own workshops or follow a career in fashion, forecasting, illustration or buying. Textiles is a global industry and offers you many opportunities to travel as part of your career.
How you'll learn
You will develop and realise your potential through a varied programme of studio-based projects, lectures, debates, competitions, live project work, group critiques, field visits, tutorials, technical demonstrations, written assignments, seminars and practical workshops.
Fieldtrips
There are opportunities to study abroad through our well-established links in Vienna or Finland. A European professional and cultural fieldtrip is generally undertaken in the second year of study.
