Winner of the 2010 CAD competition, Rod Gritten
Final year Product Design student, Rod Gritten, has been announced the Winner of the 2010 CAD Competition and has won a two month paid placement with Innovative Product Design Ltd for his 'Meccano Spykee Robot'.
The competition
The 2010 national CAD competition was open to all students enrolled on a Higher Education course and was judged in four different catergories depending on their year of study.
The competition entries were judged by industry professionals in Product Design and experts from Solid Solutions, a CAD supplier of 3D SolidWorks software.
Rod's winning entry
Rod entered the national competition in the final year student category with his 'Meccano Spykee Robot'.
His winning robot was a Pack and Go assembly of ten sub-assemblies and 51 part files. Internal parts were produced from Pro E and external parts, including all assemblies in SolidWorks.

The prize
There was one grand prize winner chosen for each year group.
The overall winner of each group was offered a two month, paid summer placement at Innovate Product Design, a vibrant design consultancy and the UK's leading invention development company.
Rod's winning entry will also be featured on the Cadooku model exchange website and in publications such as DEVELOP3D and Eureka.
