It made me feel that my song writing is of a good standard and that if you work hard you can get recognition.

Dan Beddows

Dan Beddows who graduated from BA (Hons) Popular Music with Music Technology is currently enjoying a career as a singer and song writer. He has even had the opportunity to tour with some top acts in recent years including the Editors, the Wombats and Brett Anderson. And during this he was a dedicated member of indie rock band, Komakino.

During his career he has had singing lessons with professional coach Sally Rivers, who has also coached the very talented Celine Dion.

When it came to the MBF Songwriting Awards, Dan entered two songs which earned him a spot as one of seven finalists. There was more than 200 songwriters that submitted their songs for the award, but judges, who included Cathy Dennis, the former pop singer and songwriter who wrote Kylie Minogue's Cant Get You Out Of My Head and Guy Chambers, co-writer of Robbie Williams' Angels - decided that Dan's songs were amongst the best.

"It made me feel that my song writing is of a good standard and that if you work hard you can get recognition."

Surprisingly, success for Dan doesn't involve being signed by a big record label. For him it simply means writing songs with talented artists - such as Harvey Brough, who was in the band Harvey and the Wallbangers - and having essential studio time with established producers. "I feel that I have a good creative flow, a lot of ideas and so it would be time well spent for the producer."
