Mallory Park - induction trip
Paula Conniss and Celia Van der Merwe, first year students at Mallory Park.
It's good to get involved and start networking so early. I'm very excited about using the workshops and the trip has made me feel even more excited about the course. I can't wait to get involved.
”Jon Shilling and Jack Futter, first year students.
As part of their induction activities, first year students visited Mallory Park racing circuit in Leicestershire. The track day was split into three parts, with cars in the morning, motorbikes in the afternoon and sidecars in between. It was a great day to make friends, and get a gentle introduction and a feel for the course.
What our students said:
"The trip is really valuable as it settles you into the environment of what you are interested in and about to study. Also it's nice to go on a trip so early, it was a really interesting day out. "
Celia Van der Merwe
Celia is was previously in the Army for three years as a Gunner for the Royal Artillery. She has always been interested in motorcycle sport and said "I can't wait to get stuck into the course and play with the engines!"
"The trip has let us get to know the staff better and we have found they are really relaxed, approachable and fun. They are knowledgeable and give you loads of advice and they are passionate and very focused."
Paula Conniss
Paula is also ex-forces, she worked in the Army as a Medic for five years, she has also had her own business and has run a pub. However, her passion for bikes led her to take the course at Derby. She said, "I'm looking forward to getting a deeper knowledge of the industry and being hands on".
"The facilities for our course look particularly good and everyone has been so friendly. They have settled us in with a nice introduction and the trip is a great ice-breaker. We already have great confidence in the staff and have respect for their expertise."
