Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Electrical and electronic engineering has changed the way we live today.

Things we take for granted and use everyday; laptops, mobiles or MP3s, lighting, road transport and aerospace are all examples of this.

You choose your career

The courses we offer give you the training you'll need to enter your chosen career field in relation to the subject area of electrical and electronic engineering.

We start off by giving you an understanding of general engineering principles and broad practical experience, so that you can have the chance to choose what you want to specialise in.

Getting hands-on

You'll design and build pieces of kit during your degree that will allow you to apply the theory learned into real situations.

You'll get plenty of opportunity to do this, starting with some 'reverse engineering' exercises, where you'll take products to pieces inorder to evaluate their design and construction.

Facilities

You'll be based at our Markeaton Street site, which has specialist up-to-date equipment and workshops for you to work with.

You'll be able to work on microprocessor based systems, programmable logic controllers, measurement systems, as well as considering electrical power, circuit board design and assembly, control, and communications.
