Derby - city of Technology
Derby based Engineering giant Rolls Royce contributed £7.8billion towards the UK's GDP last year, and they have an order book worth more than £60billion which is ten times the size it was in 1992.
Success of technology companies like Rolls Royce and other world renowned companies including Toyota, JCB and Bombardier means that Derby is the UK's highest-earning city outside the South-East, with salaries at two-and-a-half times the national average.
Fantastic facilities
You'll study at Markeaton Street, which is equipped with excellent facilities and the latest technology.
The motorsport workshops have everything from single seaters to road race motorcycles, all of which can be used for project work and testing.
We also have a number of dedicated auditoria so there's plenty of space for music performance, sound and light rigging, and preparing for multimedia events. We also have two fully-featured recording studios, and a set of laboratories to study music and lighting technology and experiment in psychoacoustics and music perception.
Electrical Engineering students are also able to work on microprocessor based system, programmable logic controllers, electrical power, circuit board design and assembly, control, communications and measurement systems.
