Learning Beyond Registration

Learning Beyond Registration (LBR) is a vital part of developing competent, capable health service practitioners prepared to deliver a dynamic, flexible, quality, client-focused service. If you're employed by the NHS in the East Midlands then you may be eligible for fee-free access to our LBR modules and/or programmes. You'll need to supply evidence of approval from your line manager and Trust Education Lead when you apply.

About this module

High quality clinical practice requires a strong theoretical foundation that includes an exploration of issues of race, culture, gender and disabilities.

This module will provide an intensive exploration of the development of systemic theory and practice linking the historical context studied in Systemic Theory and Practice 3 with a more contemporary perspective. 

Attention will be given to understanding the broader context in which these theories arose and will invite you to critique these ideas from a more post-modern collaborative standpoint.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this module you will be able to:

  1. Critically analyse your ability to think reflexively and make use of the supervision and consultation process.
  2. Critically demonstrate an ability to take an active role in the development of personal learning and be able to identify areas of personal strength as well as areas for future personal development. 
  3. Critically appraise your practice from an anti-discriminatory standpoint and be able to demonstrate evidence of their commitment to this in their work.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of wider systems and their impact on the individual and family life, and an ability to include this perspective in work with clients.
